WOMEN'S ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
Economically empowering women may be one of the most impactful sets of development interventions, both in terms of growth and job creation. In 2012 the MIF launched its Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEempower) initiative, particularly targeting efforts to unlock and support women’s ability to realize their economic potential. This initiative supports two core areas of programming —women’s businesses and households—that support women entrepreneurs, women farmers, women in households, and young women.
By working in partnership with local private sector organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean, the MIF designs and finances interventions to test combinations of products and services that best enable women to reach their full economic potential.
