Village Infrastructure Angels, a MIF-supported initiative in Honduras among the four selected Fire Awards finalists

Dec 9, 2016

Village Infrastructure Angels (VIA), a MIF-supported small venture acting as Executing Agency for the project “Investment Mechanism for Rural Solar Energy in Honduras” has been selected as one of the four finalists of the Fire Award (Finance for Resilience), an initiative of Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) and Climate Policy Initiative (CPI). The MIF project provides financial and technical support to bring solar agro-processing and solar lighting to isolated communities in the department of Gracias a Dios in eastern Honduras. The four finalists will pitch their financial innovations for the acceleration of green growth at the annual Bloomberg New Energy Finance Future of Energy Summit in April 2017.

The Fire Awards accelerate powerful, early-stage pilots and businesses that can unlock finance for clean energy and green growth. Climate Policy Initiative serves as the secretariat for the Fire Awards, which collaborates closely with the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance (The Lab). Fire is funded in part by Bloomberg Philanthropies, and Bloomberg New Energy Finance provides in-kind support.
